Hospitals & Health Systems Select MedAssets Contract Manager for Successful Revenue Recovery and Payor Management

ATLANTA, Jul 07, 2010 - MedAssets announced today that healthcare providers across the country are utilizing its Contract Manager solution to manage complex payor contracts and capture all net revenue contractually owed. Providers recently selecting Contract Manager include Daughters of Charity Health System in Los Altos Hills, Calif., Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine, Fla., Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala, Fla. and Riverside Health System in Newport News, Va.

Contract Manager, a Web-based solution, calculates payor-specific contractual allowances, accurately forecasts net revenue for every patient claim, provides key historical data to support contract negotiations, and identifies and captures underpayments. Contract Manager earned the top ranking in the Revenue Cycle - Contract Management category of the 2009 Top 20 Best in KLAS Awards: Software & Professional Services Report and also in the three previous reports. The market leading solution, currently being utilized by more than 500 hospitals, handles contractual agreements for all payors, including managed care and government organizations. Contract Manager's newest enhancement expands existing Coordination of Benefits (COB) capabilities to precisely calculate expected payments for secondary and tertiary payors on a patient claim, improving overall reimbursement.

"One of our goals was to manage complex contracts for all payors and increase our reimbursement using a single solution," said Lynda Kirker, Chief Financial Officer, Flagler Hospital. "We expanded our relationship with MedAssets to include contract management based on our positive results in implementing MedAssets' A/R management and chargemaster solutions to further improve our net patient revenue."

"Contract Manager was designed to address common challenges faced by healthcare providers, ensuring they receive all reimbursement owed from all payors including government no matter how complex the contract," said Neil Hunn, MedAssets' Chief Financial Officer and President, Revenue Cycle Technology. "Our customers tell us that accurate and complete revenue capture is a critical priority in today's challenging market. Using Contract Manager helps providers increase efficiency, streamline the contract negotiation process, identify underpayments and improve compliance risks."
