The Nebraska Medical Center Signs with MedAssets for Spend and Clinical Resource Management Solutions

ATLANTA - MedAssets, Inc. (NASDAQ: MDAS) announced today that The Nebraska Medical Center (NMC), the largest healthcare facility in the state, has signed a multi-year agreement for spend and clinical resource management with the company to drive sustainable performance improvement as healthcare reform pressures margins and lowers reimbursement. NMC will implement MedAssets' strategic sourcing and group purchasing (GPO), medical device and clinical consulting services for physician preference items (PPI), as well as the company's pharmacy consulting services.

Through these additional spend and resource management services, MedAssets' experts will engage NMC's clinicians in the value analysis and cost reduction process and will help NMC's pharmacy to gain operational efficiency through clinical pharmacy consulting.

NMC is already a user of CarePricer®, MedAssets' revenue cycle technology that delivers accurate patient estimates at the point of registration and admission.

Located in Omaha, NMC cares for more than 560,000 patients annually, and generates net patient revenue of approximately $850 million.

"We are very excited about the comprehensive supply chain optimization that MedAssets will be helping us achieve," said NMC Chief Executive Officer Glenn Fosdick. "We are confident that MedAssets' consulting expertise and analytics tools will help us to engage our clinicians in the cost containment process, as well as drive efficiency in our pharmacy. Achieving success in these areas will be a key component of our long-term success within our community as we prepare for the impact of healthcare reform legislation."

"MedAssets is pleased to continue to expand our relationship with The Nebraska Medical Center," said MedAssets Chief Operating Officer and Chief Customer Officer Rand Ballard. "As margin pressures increase, healthcare providers like The Nebraska Medical Center realize the need to uncover all hidden costs and engage everyone in cost reduction."
