Cost Manager is a web-based costing application used to establish the relative cost of providing services at the charge description master line-item level. It allows providers to obtain and maintain reliable, detailed costs of goods and services including accounting for resources to perform every procedure.
Cost Manager is based on the concepts of relative value, but it is not an RVU system. It uses hours for labor (tied back to the payroll system) and dollars for all other expenses.
- Calculate indirect, direct, fixed, variable, and total cost plus cost-to-charge and charge-to-cost for every procedure performed
- Identify underpriced service items, supporting price transparency and defensible pricing
- Decision support in determining providing a service “in-house” or via contract
Cost Manager can be implemented for all providers including hospitals, physicians/clinics, ambulatory surgery centers, and free standing medical laboratories and radiology centers. Integration with MedAssets Contract Manager is available and delivers information such as profitability by Managed Care Contract, patient account and detailed charges.
