Developing a portfolio as diverse as the clients we serve
At MedAssets, we understand the value of diversity in our clients, the communities in which they live, our supplier base, and our contract portfolio. One way in which we support these values is through our Supplier Diversity Program, which was developed to maximize opportunities for growth and sustainability among diverse suppliers in the MedAssets contract portfolio; create opportunities for the entry of qualified diverse suppliers in the healthcare marketplace; assist member healthcare organizations in meeting their supplier diversity goals, and to support our clients' initiatives to build strong and diverse communities. It is our policy to solicit bids from certified diversity suppliers in our efforts to award contracts to minority, small disadvantaged, veteran and women-owned businesses. MedAssets supplier diversity overview
The Supplier Diversity Program was formally launched in 2003 initially only recognizing minority and woman-owned firms and has expanded to include veteran-owned and small disadvantaged businesses. The program currently offers members, on a national basis, contracts with manufacturers, distributors and service providers that have been certified as minority, women, veteran-owned and small disadvantaged companies. MedAssets accepts certifications from the Small Business Administration, U.S. Department of Transportation, the National Minority Supplier Development Council, Women’s Business Enterprise National Council, HUBZone certification, State/Municipality certifications and other certifications as deemed acceptable by MedAssets.
True to our “flexible approach – custom solutions” model, MedAssets is also committed to supporting individual members’ regional small businesses by working with both supplier and member to support these businesses and the healthcare institution’s internal initiatives. Regional contracting with local and minority suppliers can be done at the request of the member facility.
MedAssets is a member of national and local supplier diversity organizations, including the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) and the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). Each of these organizations is dedicated to expanding the business opportunities and success of diverse business, providing stringent certification standards and supporting individual communities and local efforts through their network of regional councils. Participation in theses councils provides MedAssets with access to a database of certified diverse suppliers.
Supplier Diversity Advisory Committee
MedAssets has created a Supplier Diversity Advisory Committee to provide guidance to MedAssets regarding the Supplier Diversity Program. The committee provides valuable input to the development and enhancement of the MedAssets Supplier Diversity Program and provides an opportunity for networking and best practice sharing amongst professionals who seek to advance supplier diversity initiatives in the industry.
